The image of God carried by most people is that He is impersonal, irrelevant, critical, distant and not very interesting. The greatest need they have is to live their lives with an ever-expanding view of Him. Isaiah 40; 2 Corinthians 3,4; John 8; Job 38-40
Living as if God is a real Person, a present Person, a perfect Father, infinitely good and infinitely great is essential for enjoying Him. Psalm 16, 139; Hebrews 10; Luke 15
Tragically, most people’s image of God is shaped more by the limitations of their earthly father and lies of the enemy, than by the truth of God. Genesis 3; John 8; 2 Corinthians 4; Matthew 7
The biggest battles Christians face against the world, the flesh, and the enemy happen during the active hours of our day. Philippians 2; Ephesians 6; 2 Corinthians 10
Taking small steps towards an ever-expanding view of God will lead to an increasing desire and passion to know and follow God. John 8, 14; Romans 12 & many verses on walking with God
The true measure of our spiritual progress is the frequency and depth of our encounters with God that will naturally result in sharing God stories. Psalm 145 and many verses to “tell” of His works
We need to recalibrate the way we encounter God when reading the Bible. When we know what God is truly like, we see the rest of the Bible in a very different light. Matthew 23; John 6,9

ScholarshipDoug Sherman is Founder of Trading Up.org, a 501(c) 3 ministry. His unique message and passion is to help people change their view of God by seeing Him more clearly and enjoying Him more often during the active hours of their day. The active hours make up 95% of our life and it’s when we face our biggest spiritual battles.
Doug is a popular speaker and a published author of several books, his most popular being "Your Work Matters to God". He has spent his career engaging God both in the marketplace and ministry, which gives him the unique experience to understand both worlds.
Over the years Doug has deployed his leadership and visionary gifts to start several companies and ministries resulting in significant impact.
Doug graduated from the Air Force Academy, served in the Air Force as a fighter pilot trainer, and then earned a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Seminary.
Many years back, Steve had the great fortune of hearing Doug Sherman talk about his personal relationship with God. He was so captivated with the authentic passion Doug had for Christ he told God that he want a relationship with Him like that - that he was all-chips-in! The impact on Steve’s walk with Christ has been like a cellphone strength indicator. Before there was little to no ‘signal’ of responsiveness to God throughout the day, but now Steve lives with a strong sense of His presence. The way Steve relates to his wife, his three boys, his family, friends, co-workers, and complete strangers has forever changed.
In the workplace, Steve loves to help people succeed more on the web and have more time for the work that matters by founding a digital agency and a productivity consultancy. Steve is an avid tennis player, enjoys golf and mountain biking with his wife and three boys.
Margery has 17 years of acting a team coordinator, project manager and event consultant. She works part time for Trading Up acting as the Community Liaison & Operations Manager. Her other ‘job’ is being a mother to her wonderful little boy, Callum.
